HALO has become a staple in the medical aesthetic industry because of how effective and versatile a treatment it is. What Is HALO?

Fractional skin resurfacing with the Fraxel laser system can diminish a wide range of skin concerns, such as the following:
HALO is a unique hybrid fractional laser that combines ablative and nonablative wavelengths to treat the skin. It is a very complex technology, but when you break it down, it is a method of treatment that uses different types of light to treat both the surface and inner layers of the skin.

The ablative (destructive) part of the laser gets rid of unwanted debris and dead skin on the surface to reveal the brighter, healthier layer of skin below.

The nonablative (nondestructive) part travels deep into the dermis to stimulate collagen and elastin production, rejuvenating an aging appearance.

Additionally, HALO uses a process known as Dynamic Thermal Optimization, which is a sophisticated way to say that the treatment device in constantly adjusting to your skin’s needs, preventing unnecessary pain, discomfort, and downtime.

HALO laser therapy can treat a range of different cosmetic concerns, such as:

This is not an exhaustive list, however, so if you are experiencing some kind of cosmetic treatment you think can be improved with HALO, don’t hesitate to reach out to our office and ask. Even if HALO isn’t a good fit, we will help you find a path forward that helps you attain your goals.

Am I a Candidate for HALO Treatment?

During your consultation, one of The Ottawa Clinic’s expert staff will review your aesthetic goals, medical history, and condition to determine whether HALO will be an effective means of treatment. If your conditions do line up with HALO, then you will likely be considered a candidate.

As a noninvasive procedure, there are very few medical conditions that would disqualify you from HALO treatment. However, it is important to remember that even if HALO is not an option, we have dozens of highly effective procedures in our arsenal, and we will be able to help you find some kind of treatment to improve your condition.

It is important to know that all good candidates for HALO treatment have realistic expectations about what can be achieved through this noninvasive treatment. This means you have done ample amounts of research, looked at plenty of our before and after photos, found people with similar conditions to yours who have gone through the treatment and have asked all the questions you have.

Doing this will ensure that you will not be disappointed in what would otherwise be considered a successful treatment.

How to Prepare for HALO Treatment

There is no lengthy HALO treatment preparation you need to worry about. As a noninvasive procedure, all you need to worry about is protecting your skin from excessive sun exposure before your treatment and coming into the office with a clean face clear of makeup and other topical products. It can also help to remain hydrated and avoid products that use retinol or glycolic acid for a week or two before your treatment. Always speak with our staff to determine what the best course of action is for your current skincare regimen.

What to Expect from HALO Recovery

After your treatment, your skin may feel a bit warm or look slightly red, similar to a mild sunburn. This usually fades away within a few hours. The next day, any discomfort should be gone, but you might notice that your skin feels a little tight. Over the coming days, your skin will start to look and feel better as any roughness smooths out and the rejuvenation process kicks in. It’s highly important to protect your skin from sun exposure after the treatment, so be sure to apply sunscreen and take appropriate steps to protect yourself.

Can I Combine HALO With Other Treatments?

HALO can be easily combined into a more complex skin treatment regimen or used in tandem with another treatment to amplify results. Depending on your unique needs, our team at The Ottawa Clinic can you determine what combination procedures will best fit your goals. We will never recommend a treatment that we do not think will help your final goal, even if that means fewer total treatments. Our goal is to provide you with the best care possible.
